Today was another really awesome P-Day! We got so much done and we got some nice looking haircuts! It was pretty cloudy today but the temperatures were in the upper 50s and so that was really nice! We have really enjoyed some rest on P-day and I love being able to email you! I think that I told you everything that we did and I hope I didn't forget anything! I thought it would be fun to make a "P-Day" treat and so I bought some pretzels and chocolate chips and I made some chocolate covered pretzels! It was fun to make and they were really tasty! Then we went to the Hamburg Antique shop and it was fun to look around again! Elder Solomon loves most of the things I do and enjoys looking and the different old barns and antique shops! After our P-day ended, we went to a very pretty neighborhood in the back woods and we felt strongly that we needed to be in that area! We knocked in a certain door and the man was not interested but he pointed across the street and told us that they would love to talk to us. So we knocked on their door and a very friendly Baptist opened up the door and let us in. We asked him what was 1 thing that he learned from going to Church last Sunday. He told us that he learned about patience and trusting in the Lord's timing. He wasn't ready to accept the Book of Mormon just yet because he thinks that we can't add or take away from the Bible. The cool thing was that we have him a card with the website on it and he said that he would do some research and have us back over to compare notes! It made all of the doors worth it just to find him! We might have planted an important seed for him to accept the Gospel later on! There was a nice breeze and the temperature wasn't too cold and so it made for perfect tracting weather! I had so much fun talking to you today and I hope you had a great evening! Love ya tons and tons!!!!
Here is a cool scripture that I read today! I know the Book of Mormon is true! Love you!!!
"6 But behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.
7 And the Lord God doth work by means to bring about his great and eternal purposes; and by very small means the Lord doth confound the wise and bringeth about the salvation of many souls."
Tuesday was so awesome! We got to go on a split with our zone leaders and we just got back from switching with them! Since Elder Solomon is new to the area, they had him go to the zone leader's area for all of tomorrow and then we will switch back tomorrow evening! I woke up and was so happy to get your email and it was so great to hear from you! Thanks so much for always writing to me! After we studied, we drove to Morristown for District meeting and we talked about everyone we are teaching and then Elder Solomon drove back to Sparta! Elder Draughn is really cool and it has been fun getting to know him better! He is from North Carolina and is a really great missionary! He has been out for 13 months and loves his mission! He is a little bit older and went to 4 years of school before coming on his mission and so he is almost 25. After district meeting, we got to have a texting lesson with Carlos who we found tracting when I was with Elder Caccioppoli! He is a Pastor and so he had lots of questions for us! It was really cool to see him ask questions and it was so exciting to teach someone that we found tracting! Carlos asked us what we need to do to get into Heaven and so we directed him to 2 Nephi 31! It was really awesome and so much fun to teach someone over text! I was really excited that we were able to teach him! After our texting lesson with Carlos, we went to visit the Marvin Family before we had dinner and went on our split. We thought that the zone leaders would have us switch right after district meeting but they ended up going to a different district meeting and so they asked us to meet us near Lake Hopatcong at 8:30. Before that, we went to visit the Marvin Family and they were home! They were running out the door and so we set up an appointment for Thursday! Then we had a guy pull into his driveway right as we were standing at his door and he told us to come back! Then we went to Lake Hopatcong to split with the Zone Leaders and then we drove back after a great and busy day! LOVE YOU ALL TONS!!!!
Wednesday was another very awesome day! Thanks so very much for the fun emails! CONGRATS BRANDON!!!!🦅🦅 I was so excited to hear that my little Bro won his last game of the season and it was really fun to see a picture of him! What an exciting game! 3 overtimes!?!?!? Wow! I'm so glad that you had fun and got to see such an exciting game! I was so excited to get an email from you about feeding the missionaries! As a missionary, it is so much fun to go visit with members and so I know that they really appreciated it! It looked like such a fun time! I spent the whole day in our area with Elder Draughn and I really enjoyed working with him! It is fun to have a missionary from North Carolina with me and it was fun to get to know him better! Today was my 1 year mark since I moved from Kingston to Manhattan! It's so weird to think that it was 1 year ago that I met Elder Brown and started serving in the best area ever! I had fun looking through some of my pictures from the day of transfers and it was fun to think back! I remember how fast the time went from when I got there to Christmas and so these next 2 months are really going to fly by! We had a really busy day today and had so much going on! We got to do some more service with Jane, and go out with Daniel! I hope that your dinner with the Elders is going well and that you all had a great time! Elder Draughn and I decided to walk to our first appointment about a mile down the road but they weren't home but in the way, we met a really cool Russian man that was sorting through his Russian coins and said that he would only be here for a few weeks. He doesn't have a place to stay and so we gave him a card and he is going to take the card so they can look at the website in Russia! Then we got to go out with Daniel and we met a huge Chiefs fan and he was the same age as Elder Draughn! We taught him about the Book of Mormon since he doesn't have a background of religion. We also got to help Jane with her front porch and we scraped paint off of her steps so she can paint them. The rest of the night, we had dinner at Taco Bell and so that was really fun and then we went tracting and found a man that lives in a huge house named Shaun! He is interested in learning more about the Book of Mormon and so we are going to go over on Monday evening! Then we went back to Lake Hopatcong to switch back and it was so great to get Elder Solomon back! We got back to the apartment and I was so excited to see your email about feeding the missionaries! It was so fun to see you all and it was fun to see some other Elders! Looks like you had such a fun day! LOVE YOU TONS!!!!
Thursday was really great too! We had interviews with President Hess first thing in the morning and I was really looking forward to talking to him! I can't believe that I'm already to 21 months in my mission! I woke up and realized that it was the 18th and thought it was so crazy to already be at 21 months! I hope you all had a very great day and had lots of fun too! My interview was very first since we live the furthest away from Morristown and I really enjoyed talking to President Hess! We talked about Ricky and Theresa who we found tracting and he told us to have them read from the Book of Mormon and then just simply bear our testimonies. After our interviews, we came back to the apartment and Elder Solomon showed me a few conversations that he had on his split over Facebook messenger and it was really cool to be able to teach people over Facebook! I hope you were all having such a great day! Sister Stevenson called us and said that she made some Shepherds pie and out it in the fridge for us at the Church and so we grabbed it on the way back to the apartment and then we had it for lunch and it was so yummy! As we were chowing down, I got your fun email and picture! I can't believe that I'm at 21 months either! Thank you so very much for sending me an email! I really appreciate them so much! I was reading in my journal and guess what?!?!?! 1 year ago today I went to the top of the One World Trade center and got to see the amazing views! It was fun because as we were driving to Morristown, I could see the One World Trade center from really far away and it was fun to think that it was my 1st P-day in Manhattan 1 year ago today! The weather was so beautiful today and it stayed in the 40s the whole day and so it was pretty chilly. Brrrrr! After we did our studies, we went to teach the Marvin Family but since there wasn't a 3rd male, we couldn't go inside to teach them. So then we did some tracting and the temperature dropped quite a bit but I had so many layers on that it felt nice and toasty! I checked your weather and it was 61 degrees! We are supposed to get down into the upper 20s tonight and so we got out our blankets and sweat pants. We found a street and it seemed like everyone was so nice and friendly but they didn't want to open up about their beliefs. We tried to ask lots of inspired questions but most of them were friendly but didn't want to talk about religion. It is interested how each neighborhood we go to, seems to have the same types of people and they all kind of believe the same things but each street is different. It's always interesting to me to see how people live and just how different it is on the East coast. We had a really great day and enjoyed sharing the Restoration with lots of people! We were standing at someone's door and we heard the garage open and a lady back out in her car and didn't see us until she was almost to the street. So we walked over and she rolled down her window and asked us if we had anything for her to read and so we excitedly gave her a copy of the Book of Mormon! I'm doing so great and I'm enjoying my mission so much! Tomorrow, we get to go on another split with our District leader and his companion and they happen to be Spanish missionaries and so I will get to go to their area tomorrow with Elder Saunders and he is from Logan! His name is Danny Saunders and so I will see if he is related to the Saunders in our ward! LOVE YOU TONS & TONS!!!!!!! HUGS FROM JERSEY!!!!
P.S: I got Grandma Evans' card in the mail today! It was so much fun and I loved getting a Halloween card!!
2........MORE........MONTHS!!!!!!!
Saturday was another really great day! I spent the whole day in Morristown with Elder Saunders and we had a great day of work together! I love being in Morristown and it is a really cool town! Elder Saunders lived in Logan for a few months and his Family now lives in Cedar City. He has been out on his mission since March and was called to speak Spanish. Him and his companion are assigned to be the Facebook Elders and they are also in charge of some of the office work as well. I hope that you all had a great and fun Saturday! I was thinking about you and hoping you got to do something fun! I have been so blessed to be able to serve a mission and I'm making a list of all the things I have learned while on my mission. It has been fun to see how much I've grown! One thing I have learned to do even more of is trust in Heavenly Father and His timing. I have learned to adapt to so many different things and I've grown so much in the process! It was really interesting to spend the whole day in a Spanish area and it was fun to picture how Dad got to speak Spanish on his mission! It was fun to hear the same conversations that we start with people but in Spanish! We spent a big portion of the day street contacting and tracting and we also created some posters for their free English classes that they are doing! We posted a video on Facebook and so did Elder Solomon! The Elders that we went on a split with are the Facebook and office Elders and so they are in charge of training all the missionaries how to use Facebook for missionary work. It is so amazing because they add hundreds of people per day and introduce so many people to the Gospel over Facebook messenger. It was fun to talk to Elder Saunders and learn more about him. He told me that he read his mission call alone while he was going to school and so he was the only one that knew about his mission call u til he told everyone in person. It was a great split and it was fun to speak a little Spanish today! I would be the one to tell people we saw on the streets "Hola Hermana" or "Hola Hermano", "Somos missionaros la iglesia De Jesucristo De Los Santos, De Los ultimos dias!" It was a fun day for sure! I hope each of you had an amazing and fun Saturday! I have been thinking about you so much and I hope you can feel my love! I can certainly feel yours! LOTS OF LOVE FROM T-DOG!!!!!!!
Sunday was so very amazing! I just couldn't wait to read your email and I was so very excited to hear how your fun week went! I just want to thank each of your for always thinking of me and writing me the most amazing emails! It is really special to have fun emails to read and pictures to see! So thank you so much for all that you do for me! I really appreciate you so very much! We had an amazing Sabbath Day and I hope you did too! Tomorrow for P-day, we get to do something so fun! We get to drive to Morristown and have a group activity with the other Elders in our District! We will be playing sports in the Morristown Chapel and so I'm really looking forward to tomorrow! Today Elder Solomon got to speak and so I was really excited to hear his talk! We were also asked by Brother Stevenson to teach Gospel Principles class and so we prepared for that and then headed off to Church! Elder Solomon did an amazing job on his talk about fasting and we had a member of the Stake Presidency with us. There were also some great talks about emergency preparedness and how important it is that we are both spiritually and temporally prepared. Our gospel principles lesson on work and self reliance went really well! I shared a few experiences from when we would work together as a Family and it was really fun to talk about you! Then we had Sister Jensen bring us dinner for tomorrow and we also had dinner at the Thompson's house! It was Daniel's 26th Birthday and so he invited us over and we had an amazing time! The spirit in member's homes is always so great and I thought back to last week when you fed the missionaries and I know that they appreciated it! We had chow mein noodles and some jello and ice cream with toppings for dessert! Brother Thompson is such a good guy and told us about his many experiences as a ward mission leader in a different ward. It was so great to eat with them and I'm so sorry because I forgot to get a picture with them. Whoops! Let me just say, it is COLD today! It was in the upper 30s the whole day and felt bitter because of the ice cold wind and humidity. It was a really cold day but we stayed warm as usual!
Well my dear loved ones! It was fun to talk to you today! We are just about to head off to Morristown to play some sports and so I'm really looking forward to that! We will play some gator ball and chair soccer in the gym and then come back to Franklin to do our shopping! It will be a very great day! Thanks again for all of your many awesome emails and pictures! I can't wait to hear how this next week goes and I wish you good luck in all that you do! I am so thankful for each one of you and all that you do for me! It is such a blessing to have a loving Family that I can always count on! We will be together again soon and it seems a lot more real now that the temperature has dropped and we are around the holidays! It's such a fun time of year and I will enjoy these last 8 weeks so much! I know that we will see miracles if we keep working at it and trying our best! These last few weeks are going to fly by and so I will keep going strong! Have an amazing week! LOVE & MISS YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love You Always!
