Zone Conference!

                  March 14th 2018~HAPPY 14th BIRTHDAY BRANDON!!!

Hello once again my dear and incredible Family!!! I have missed you so much! Where did this week go? I feel like we just had P-day and now a whole week has passed since then! First off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DUBBIE tomorrow! I can't wait to hear all about it and hear how fun it is! I hope you have the best Birthday ever! I wish I could give you a giant hug but just a few more months, and I can give you all a big hug! This week has been so awesome as always and Roebrt is doing so well! Yesterday, he was in a nice, button up shirt with slacks and he looked really good! He cleaned himself up so much and has completely changed his life around! This Gospel is so true!!!! I am so excited to say that we've got a really fun day planned! First, we are going to do the usual laundry and shopping and then we will get haircuts from Jay before going to see Yankee Stadium and parts of the Bronx and my old area! Elder Williams has always wanted to go to Yankee Stadium and see the Bronx so I'm going to show him around today! It will be really fun to see the streets that I used to walk every day and see all of the cool sights! I will have lots of time to email you and so hopefully we can talk back and forth! It should be an awesome day and I'm really excited for it!

Last P-day was so awesome! The snow was absolutely crazy and we had tons of wind and there was hardly anybody outside on the streets. The museum was so much fun and we got to see tons of stuff! It amazed me at how much stuff they have there and the history of all of the artifacts! We got to see artifacts from the Roman Empire, Greek marble statues and so much more! There were tons of people there and lots of tourists and lots of them hadn't seen snow before and so they were taking lots of pictures! After our fun P-day ended, we headed out for more work! We called Robert to see how he was doing and he told us some crazy news! He told us that he found 2 tickets to the Big East Tournament in an envelope on the floor but sold them for only $5.00 each. We wished we could have gone so bad! That would have been a blast! We called lots of investigators and called a guy named Felix who ordered a Bible and he was not happy at all that we called. We were confused because he ordered the Bible but we told him to have a great day and continued our work! Elder Williams and I have become such great friends and we will continue to be friends for many years to come! We always love talking about our families and talking about Utah! We headed back out into the snowy night and got on the bus to head back to the apartment for a good night's rest! I So enjoyed reading your fun emails and hearing all about your week! Thanks so much for your email that you sent in the evening! I was so glad to hear that you had a great time at the Temple! Love you tons!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ABBY!!!!! I hope you had an amazing and fun day! Thursday was a really awesome and fun day! We were really excited about Zone Conference and I was thinking about Abby all day! We woke up a tiny bit early to get ready and then we were out the door by 7:00. Then we headed up to the Manhattan Temple Chapel and got there right at 8:00 for breakfast. We had some yummy yogurt with granola! The temperature was just right and most of the snow had melted and the skies were as blue as could be! We had a great zone conference and learned all about working better with members and how we can use the Book of Mormon while we are teaching. There was lots of participation and it was fun to be one of the oldest missionaries in the group! There were quite a few that are going home from this zone and so it was weird to think that I was one of the oldest! They did something really cool while we were eating lunch at Zone Conference! They had a projector and they showed the 2 mission Presidents that will be in charge of the New York, New York City Mission and the New Jersey Morristown Mission! It was so cool to see some pictures of President Tuescher and his family and also President Hess who is the mission President of the New Jersey Morristown Mission! It was really cool to learn more about them and know that 1 of them will be my mission President for the last few months of my mission! It was really exciting! I was thinking about Abby all day and hoping her day was going great! Then we went to the Church to call Robert and a few other of our investigators and council about what we liked about Zone Conference and how we can learn from each other. Then we went to our first appointment at 5:45 with the McClain family and we had a really busy night! Charles told us that Monae was asleep and he didn't want to meet with us and so we decided to go over and talk with Robert and he had a rough day. We wanted to take him to the addiction recovery class but he wasn't feeling well and so then we hurried and changed and then headed over to our dinner appointment with Brother and Sister Toomey! The weather was a little chilly but the snow was pretty much melted and so it was nice to be out and about! We got to the Toomey's apartment and we both smelled brownies when we first walked in and I said "Hey! It's my Sister's Birthday today!" Then they asked if we could sing Happy Birthday and send it to you! Of course I was totally up for that and excited to send it to you! So then we had a yummy salad with chicken tenders, avocado, and pears on the side! We had fun singing Happy Birthday and getting a fun picture back!!! It was such an amazing way to end the day! Love and miss you all so very much my dear loved ones! HAPPY BIRTHDAY ABBS!!!

Friday was another really awesome day! We did our weekly planning on Friday this week instead of Thursday due to zone conference and so we enjoyed planning for the upcoming week! Before our weekly planning and studies, we had a fun conference call from President Smith and it was really cool! It always builds our faith to go out and keep working hard and find those that need the Gospel! It was really fun to hear from him! Then we did our big long weekly planning and got a hold of quite a few people! The hardest part is just getting a hold of people because they are always busy but lots of people answered their phone which was great! We had another busy week scheduled with lots to do and so we were excited about that! We were able to schedule 2 appointments with 2 new people that we called from our list of potential investigators and so we were especially excited about that! Then we did our 12 Week and companionship study before heading out to knock on some doors and find more people to teach! We were able to knock on lots of doors and do a little bit of tracting but not a lot of people were home because it was at a time where most people are either at work or picking up their kids from school. Then we came back to the apartment for dinner and our roommates were on a split at so Elder Smiley came to our apartment for the day with Elder Staker and so it was fun to have him there! The weather was so nice but very windy and so we enjoyed being outside in the amazing city! We knocked on a lot more doors since we didn't have any appointments and found a few investigators at home but we weren't able to teach them. We set a few return appointments and then headed back to the apartment after another awesome day of hard work! I was thinking a lot about you all and I couldn't help but think how Abby's Birthday went! I was excited to hear what she got and how fun it was! Love you all tons and tons!

Saturday was just a really awesome day! We were extra excited because we had 2 meal appointments with members! Brother Ward texted us the night before and asked us if we could unlock the Church for him at 11:00 and then he told us that he would take us to lunch afterwards! So after our studies, we headed over to the Church to unlock it for him and we helped him set up for the Stake Conference broadcast! I totally forgot to mention in my last email that it was Stake Conference this last Sunday! So we helped him set up for the broadcast and had a great time talking with him! He and his wife are from Utah and so the 3 of us have a lot in common and we love talking about Utah! We got everything all set up and then had a really nice lunch at Dairy Queen on 14th Street! I got some yummy chicken strips with an Oreo shake and it was really tasty! Then we did our studies at the Church and had a great time learning from one another and reading out of Preach My Gospel together! Then we showed Brother Eades A video called "Spritual Vertigo" and he really enjoyed it! Then we had our dinner appointment cancel because Norka wasn't feeling well and so we had our dinner at the apartment and then went to go pick up our mail at the Manhattan Temple Chapel. But before we picked up mail, we stopped by to check on on Robert and he was doing really well! He was struggling just a tiny bit because he is taking a prescription and they stopped insuring him and so he was really stressed out but he was taking a nap to help him calm down. We found out that he opened up to a random page the night before but didn't understand it or what it meant so we read the 2 pages that he opened up to and he felt the spirit really strong and so we were able to help him understand it a lot more! He was so grateful that we came over and he told us that he could sleep easy and we helped him out so much by coming over! Then we got on a bus to go pick up mail and we had a really funny guy on the bus. He was really drunk and was introducing everyone on the bus as a UFC fighter and he was telling everyone how cool he was and how he is so famous. He was really funny and was laughing and telling everyone to go watch him on tv because he was so famous. It was a really entertaining bus ride to say the least! I was missing you all a ton and just wished so much that I could talk to you all! You have been on my mind a lot and I pray for each of you every day. I feel so much love and tons of prayers sent my way! It's still hard to be away from you but we will all be together again really soon! Love you tons!

Sunday was so Amazing! We were really excited for Stake Conference and we were looking forward to hearing the talks! We woke up and the weather was so pretty! I was hoping that the time change didn't affect you all too much! That extra hour that we lost made me feel really tired the whole day but it wasn't too bad. So we headed off to Stake Conference and got there right on time! I got to give the training in our ward correlation meeting and so I had fun preparing that for after Stake Conference. Stake Conference was really good and we learned a lot about the Temple! We had about 6 speakers and Elder Kunz from the Seventy come and give a great talk! The broadcast was having troubles picking up the visual and so we just had the audio for the first hour but then we sang Come, Come He Saints and as soon as we sang "All Is Well!" The broadcast started back up again and it was crystal clear! It was really, really cool! President Cropper talked about 3 miracles that he has seen in his life and how he can now see that they were for his benefit even though they were hard to go through. It was a really great Stake Conference and we had lots of visitors from all over the country come and it was a really great time! Then we had our weekly ward correlation meeting and it went really well! We even got invited to dinner with the Mishler Family afterwards so we were excited for that! I was hoping you were having a great day and I was so excited to hear from you on Tuesday and really looking forward to your email! Everybody here is getting really excited for Spring Break and everyone has lots of fun plans! After ward correlation, we did our studies and watched a few videos from the District that President Smith asked us to and so we enjoyed watching those and learning more about the Holy Ghost. Then we knocked on some doors near the Vhurch and even tried to go visit Francis right by Madison Square Garden and there were tons of fans out because of the Big Ten Tournament that had been going on! It was so cool to see so many fans and there was a lot going on! Then we went to our dinner appointment with the Mishler Family and had a really great time! We had a huge beef roast, potatoes, muffins, and suqatash! Brother Ward also came over and so it was a really great time! Then as we were walking back to Avenue D to give a Bible to Angelo Burgos and we ran into a companionship of Elders from Harlem and they were down here doing lookups. They yelled "Hey Elders!" We walked across the street and I met 2 Elders that I hadn't met before and so it was fun to get to know them! What was really crazy to me is that Elder Allen was training and he is from Boise and his companion who just flew out from the MTC 3 weeks ago and I thought to myself: "Rookies!" Hehe! Elder Allen has been out for 9 months and he was training a brand new missionary and so if you combined the time that these 3 Elders have been out, it doesn't even add up to how long I've been out which was very crazy! It was really fun to get to know them! I found a really cool video about the Gospel and the joy we feel when we apply it to our lives and I thought you would all enjoy! After our dinner appointment, we did a few lookups and tried to drop off a Bible to Angelo but he wasn't at home. We found out that one of the investigators on our list moved and since we had been knocking on his door for quite some time to try to get a hold of him, it was nice to know his correct address! It was a really great day and I was thinking about you a lot! I hope you had a great and fun day!

Monday was another really great day! We woke up to beautiful weather and the temperature was just right! We did our studies and then went to our weekly District Meeting which is always really fun! On our way, we passed by a man who was leaning up against a gate near a bus stop and I felt prompted to talk to him and I said hello to him and he was really friendly! He asked us if we could give him a blessing but since We were outside, we asked if we could say a prayer with him and then go back and teach him and he agreed to meet with us! It was really excited and We love talking to everybody that will listen! His name is Jimmy and he said he would give us a call and have us come over! We had a great meeting and were able to council about our investigators and how we can help Robert come to Church and the Addiction Recovery Class. He goes through mood changes because of his withdrawals but he is doing really well still! It has been slow and steady progress with him but we are so proud that he is progressing so well! After our district meeting, Elder Ropati wanted to go on a split with Elder Williams that night and so we told them that we had an appointment so the split was up in the air but we were excited to go on splits with missionaries that we hadn't been with before! Then we went to the Church to do our studies and have some lunch before going to our next appointment with Brother Eades and Brother Forbes! We had a great lesson with Brother Eades and read a few verses put of the Book of Mormon and he really enjoyed it! Then we came back to the apartment to have dinner and the busses are always packed during that time because of rush hour. I can't believe how jam packed everything is and how many people are out and about. It is so cool to be serving here and I love hearing evetyones stories about 9/11 an their experiences for those that were here during that day. Elder Williams and I have become really great friends and we will stay in contact for years to come. We have so much in common and really know how to teach well together! It hit me that we could potentially only have 2 weeks left together until I get transferred. I love this area so much and all of the incredible things I have been able to experience and be a part of. I hope and pray that I can stay for 1 more transfer but I will most likely get transferred in just couple of weeks. Our 2 appointments that we had that night canceled and so it allowed us to split with Elder Norton and Elder Ropati which was a great opportunity to get to know them better! Elder Ropati is our District Leader and Elder Norton is one of our zone leaders. Elder Williams went up to Hell's Kitchen for the day with Elder Norton and Elder Ropati came down with me to our area. He is a really great and quiet guy. He is just about to finish his mission here in 3 weeks when this next transfer ends and so he is looking forward to seeing his family soon! So we traveled up to the Manhattan Temple Chapel to start our split and then we came back to the apartment for the day and Elder Ropati and I really enjoyed getting to know each other better!

Tuesday was another really great and busy day! I sure do miss you guys a lot! I think about you so much and wish so much that I could talk with you and give you a giant hug!!! We had 4 lessons during the day which is so awesome! We were able to schedule an appointment with Fabhaa Alee and so we were really looking forward to it! We were in our split the whole day from when we split the night before and so Elder Ropati and I were really looking forward to a full day of hard work! I was so excited and couldn't wait to get your fun email and read all about your week and how Abby's Birthday went! Tuesdays are always extra fun! We woke up to a huge blizzard but none of the snow was sticking but the wind gusts were really strong. After we did our studies, we headed out for more awesome work! Elder Ropati is from California and is the oldest of 7 kids. His younger brother is serving in the Philippines. It was really cool to get to know him better! First, we knocked on 4 doors on the Lower East side of Manhattan. The snow had stopped and so it made it a lot nicer to be outside! We knocked on one of our new investigators' door but he wasn't home and so we left him a Plan of Salvation pamphlet with our names so he can read through it and feel the spirit. Then we met a less active lady named Aida Rivera and she was so nice! We invited the Sisters to go and visit her. Then we snagged some lunch on our way to do our studies before our 4 appointments! It is always so fulfilling to have so many appointments! After lunch, we called a referral named Edwin Martinez and he is really cool! He wants a copy of the Book of Mormon and he also wants to come to Church! Then we did our companionship study before going up to 6th Avenue to have our 30 minute lesson with Fabhaa! He had lots of questions but it was so quick that we didn't have time to answer them all. He wants to know all about our Church and loves to learn tons about what we believe. He had so many questions about the very basics of our Church. We started off by explaining that we believe that we have the Godhead, Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. He couldn't understand why Jesus Christ needed to come to Earth and be treated so poorly. He couldn't understand that why Heavenly Father is merciful and loves us and why Heavenly Father alone couldn't just forgive us for our sins. It was a very good lesson and he understood a lot more about our Church! He had to leave bdcause he spent his half hour lunch break with us which is really cool! That shows us that he is committed! Then we had a quick 20 minute lesson with Brother Eades and Brother Forbes and we showed them a video before coming back to the apartment for dinner. I was getting really excited for your fun email and I couldn't wait to hear from you! We headed out for our last 2 appointments of the day before we unsplit. I was excited to get Elder Williams back! First, we went to have an appointment with Robert and he is doing so well! I'm so amazed with the progress he is making! His Sister is so proud of him because she keeps noticing amazing changes in his life and she even called Robert while we were teaching and so we got to talk to her. Robert was wearing a button up shirt and slacks! He has really cleaned up his life a ton and he acts completely different! It's so amazing! Then we had our appointment with the McClain family cancel but then we were able to talk with Antoine. He told us that he found his Church and so he only wants to talk with us every once in a while. The reason why he converted to Islam is because they offered him free food and so that is the reason why he is "Islam." But we were able to have a great talk with him! Then we went up to the Temple to unsplit and so we said a prayer and off we went back to the apartment to unsplit. It was a really great time! We had so many cool and amazing things happen and got to talk to a lot of cool people of the streets! I was REALLY excited to get your email and hear all about your week! I LOVE Tuesdays!!

Well my dear Family! As always, it was a tons of fun to email you and tell you all about my fun and awesome week! I try my best to make you proud every single day and always try my best! I hope you can feel my love every day because I can sure feel your love and support all day, every day!!! I'm so grateful for you and everything that you do! Time is really flying by even faster and the days just keep going by quicker. Wasn't it just P-Day??? Hehe! I hope each of you have an amazing and really fun week! I can't believe that I'm already to 14 months on Sunday! That really just is so crazy to me because 14 months is a long time to be away from those you love so much! You all mean everything to me and I love and care about you so much! I loved seeing all of the fun pictures from the week and reading your detailed letters! I just realized how weird it will be to come home and not have any letters to write. I love and miss you so very much and think about you all the time! I'm doing great here and I couldn't be more proud to be your son and brother! Keep up the great work and stay safe! Have a great week and HAPPY BIRTHDAY DUBBIE! LOVE AND MISS YOU ALL SOOOOO MUCH!

Love You Always!
