Hello my wonderful family!! I am SO excited to be able to email you today! I have been dying to talk to you! I can't thank you enough for your wonderful email! I always love all your many details that you include! Your email was so great as always! I have been doing great this last week and a lot of great and amazing things have happened both here in New York and back and the home with you! I AM SO EXCITED! When I got your email on Sunday night I was so excited for you! Thank you so much for sending it! It was such a fun email to get! I just sent you a card in the mail today so I really hope that you get it before you leave on Monday! I loved getting your emails so much throughout the week!! I loved them all so much! I am so excited for my birthday and your trip! I can't thank you enough for sending me a package! We get mail usually on Thursday so I'm so excited to get it tomorrow! I promise that I won't open it! You have my word! It will be such a fun time! I will be thinking about you all day! I'm so very excited that you get to go to Washington D.C!! I had one quick question. Are you doing swimming lessons this year? That was one of my favorite memories of summers was going to swimming lessons! It was such a fun time!
I was thinking about Grandpa all day yesterday on his birthday! I miss him so much. I know we all do. It was really cool though to hear that there was a Yankee game in his honor!
Today for P-Day we are going to do the usual shopping, laundry and then we are going to clean the whole apartment from top to bottom! We have apartment inspections tomorrow and we want to do well on that! Sorry I don't have anything really exciting we are doing. We thought it would be nice to just email and relax a little!
I just got thinking about sending a package soon! I really wanted to send some of my souvenirs home so you can see them! I was wondering what you wanted me to send? I was planning on sending my mini bat, New York mug and magnets, coins, Keychain, and my big envelopes full of stuff. The only thing I got thinking about was that I won't be able to see it until I get home. So I was wondering what I should send? Especially if I do end up getting transfered. It will be so much fun to have you see all of my souvenirs!
It has been so pretty here! Yesterday, as you saw on TV, that it was a little rainy but the trees and flowers are budding like crazy!
I was just thinking the night before that my year mark for graduation was the very next day and then I woke up and saw that I had an email from you! It was seriously like you said one of the best memories ever! Thank you for making graduation such a fun and memorable time! It meant so much! It just got me thinking about all of the incredible memories that we have made from all of the trips and fun things we have been able to do! I am SO grateful to have a family like you! Thank you for the many great and unforgettable memories! I have had a ton of fun looking at my calender ever day when I study at my desk! I love turning the month and seeing the new pictures! That reminds me, I never got the code for the free calender that we were supposed to get. It has been so fun!
Monday was another great day! I couldn't believe that it was district meeting again! We had such a great time! So we headed to district meeting and then we got a text from our Zone Leaders saying that Sister Oppenheimer made us all lunch! A few weeks ago, we gave her a blessing and so she wanted to reward us with a lunch! We told her that we were just happy to help her and we didn't need anyhting. She was so nice that she made us a big lunch anyway! So the Zone Leaders went and picked up the food and then set it up in the gym! Then we had our district meeting and we talked about our investigators! We talked about Charlie Kreig and his health problems. We asked them if there was anything that we could do to help them. The Relief Society President, Sister Bonilla is going to do something and we are going to try to get the Elders that work in the area of the hospital that he is staying at to go see and fellowship them. It was a great time to talk about them! We then talked about Kojo and his struggles with work and how busy he is. So after district meeting, we had the delicious lunch that Sister Oppenheimer prepared for us! So we said the prayer and then we had lunch! We had rolls, pork, chicken, salad, and vegetables! Then for desert........root beer floats!! It was all really good! We will be sure to thank Sister Oppenheimer the next time we see her! So after we had lunch, we headed back to the apartment to do our companionship and language study. Then we called around and reminded our investigators and members about our upcoming lessons. Then we had dinner and then headed out for the rest of the night! It was such a pretty and cool night! Then some clouds started to roll in. We headed over to Co-op City and visited with the Neil family! We really wanted to get to know them better! The mom and daughter, Dana and Jacqueline, are less active members. They are very nice and friendly! The Dad and son, are not members. So we had a great lesson with Sister Neil and Dana! We talked to them about families and Family Home Evening! Sister Neil was born in Jamaica and moved her about 20 years ago and found the missionaries only 2 years ago! So they are very new members! It was really great to talk with and teach them! It was such a great day and I was so excited for P-Day! Great day!
Tuesday was such a great day! I was dying to email you all! I feel like it has been a long time since I have emailed you. It has been so fun to read your emails! Yesterday we called a ton of investigators! We called them and some numbers didn't work and so we were able to figure out which ones we could and couldn't get a hold of. We scheduled a few appointments just by calling them! So after called a ton of people we did companionship and language study! Then we headed over to where Dalton lives! We did a ton of lookups and met a lot of great people! It wasn't the best time of the day since everyone was at work and school. We met a lady who goes by Brill and she was feeling pretty sick. She kept saying: "Heavenly Father sent you here". She wanted us to say a prayer with her so she could get over her sickness quicker. So after we looked up a lot of people, we headed back to the apartment and had some dinner and then we had a lesson with Matt! So we headed to City Island and talked with Matt! We read 1 Nephi chapters 3 and 4 with him and applied them to him. It was a great lesson and talk with our good friend Matt! I told him that this could have been the last time that I came over to his house because I may or may not be getting transfered. He then invited us back over for dinner on Saturday! We were really excited to go back over! So we walked out of the big white mansion and looked at the beautiful sunset! I was so excited for today and couldn't wait to get back to the apartment to read your awesome email!
Well everyone! I am so excited to be able to email you back and forth today! It's so cool to think that you are on summer vacation! It has been a blast to email you today! I have missed you all so much! I still get pretty homesick every once in a while because I miss you so much. It had been really hard to not be there for you and all of the stuff that goes on. I think about you every day and I have remembered you in every single one of my prayers. I really want to be there to be a part of every single thing that you do. Even though it is really tough, I still keep doing the work and have the best attitude I can because I know how much love and support you are giving me. Your emails ALWAYS give me such a boost and I love reading them SO much. It is so crazy to me how fast time has been going! I feel like I should still be in the MTC. When Sister Smith and I were talking, she said that you may feel homesick now, but once you see how much your family is blessed, time will fly by and boy.....she was right! She said that before I know it, I will be back at home and I will wonder where the time went. I just want you to know how much I love and appreciate you all!!
I appreciate all of your love and support so much! I love you emails and pictures so much! I am so excited for you to go on your trip! You two deserve a nice, fun, relaxing vacation! I will be thinking about you the whole time! I hope you have the best Anniversary ever! LOVE AND MISS YOU ALL SO MUCH!!
Love Always!

I have some really exciting news!! I can't believe I am saying this but this Tuesday is transfers. So, today, those missionaries who are getting called to be trainers will get a call sometime today! It's pretty exciting to think about! Then on Saturday night after we come back to our apartment, we will get transfer calls! I can't believe that I am in the mix to get transfered! Elder Smiley and I have been in this apartment for the longest and we have both been here for 3 cycles now. It is pretty nerveracking to think about but I may or may not be leaving the day before my birthday. So we will get called on Saturday and then transfers are on Tuesday! It's pretty exciting! So tomorrow President Smith is having a conference call and so he will most likely tell us how our next P-Day will work. I'm not sure if it will be an full P-Day on Monday or another short one like last time. It will be interesting!
Last P-Day was incredible!! We had such a great time at the Temple and seeing the many amazing sights of Manhattan! So we woke up, got ready, and did our studies and then right at 8:00 when our P-Day started, we threw in our laundry and then headed back upstairs to email! I had such a great time reading your emails and emailing you all! So after we emailed we switched our laundry to the dryers and then emailed some more! We knew we had to be really quick because of all of the traveling we would have to do! So after our laundry was done we headed back upstairs to fold our laundry, then we put on our suits and headed for Manhattan! So we took the train to Yankee Stadium and then walked to Best Buy really quick to pick up Elder Dick's tablet. So a little more about what happened with his tablet. So, he forgot his word password and couldn't get in so we took it to the Geek Squad last P-Day and we told them what the problem was. Then, a few days earlier, we got a call from Salt Lake and they told us that they reset his password and so now he could get in. But for some odd reason, when he went to type in his password, the keyboard never showed up. So there wasn't any way for him to type in his new password from Salt Lake. So we told them the problem and they said that they could fix it! So we dropped it off and left it there but we knew we couldn't go back until next P-Day. During the week, we got a call from them and they said that they couldn't get in because the program that we have installed has a password so you can't do anything with that. They tried to reset his tablet and couldn't get in because of this password that the church has put on our tablets. But when he got his tablet back, he tried again and the keyboard popped up and so he got in!! They refunded him all of his money and now he has a working tablet! Rule #1: Don't forget your password because it was a pain for him! But I'm so glad it is working now! So after we picked it up at Best Buy, we headed straight for the Temple! It is always a fun train ride because it goes right underneath Central Park! So we got to the Temple and had a little bit of time and so we walked up Broadway and looked at all the many cool and tall buildings! We even saw some street performers playing violins and violas! It was really cool to have live music! Then we decided to go into the Temple a little early so we could be sure that we had enough time! Then as we were walking we said hi to the Bryans! I couldn't help but think "What a small world!" We enjoyed talking with them! It was so cool because he was talking about Dan and Becky! We had a nice chat and then we headed inside for our session! The session was so good! There weren't a whole lot of people there probably because it was a 12:30 session on a Wednesday. But is was so good! I just got thinking how excited I am to go with Abby after I get home! That is a ways away but I am really looking forward to that! So after our session we had to leave Manhattan because we are only allowed to go to the Temple and then come straight back to the apartment. So we headed back to our apartment and then we went grocery shopping! We decided this week since Elder Smiley and Elder Knudsen already went shopping, we would just go to C-Town that is right by our apartment! So we did our shopping and then came back and had dinner! Then we went back out and did some lookups for the rest of the evening! It was such a fun and amazing day!
Thursday was another really great day! On Wednesday night, Elder Smiley and Elder Knudsen got a text from the 1st councelor in the bishopric and they said that they needed some furniture moved and so they wondered if they could do it! They had an appointment that morning and they couldn't do it so we got to go over and help them! So we headed over to the 1st Counselor in the bishopric's house, Brother Salinas, and helped them! They had their parents that had just driven in from Virginia and so they wanted to rearrange some of their furniture to better accommodate them. So we brought 2 mattresses down and put them in their bedroom and then we moved a couch into their living room. Brother Salinas was so busy with work that he didn't have any time to do it himself. So we helped them rearrange some of their furniture and then Sister Salinas made us breakfast! She made us turkey bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches on wheat bread! It was really good! Then, after breakfast we had a quick message to share with them! We taught them about service and then I told them the story about when we were in the 4th ward and we helped that hispanic man rake up all of his leaves as a youth group. Then about how Dad was able to speak Spanish to them! It was a great lesson! We had a great time talking with the Salinas family and helping them out! Afterwards, we headed back to the apartment to do our weekly planning! We planned for a ton of people and then fit them into our schedule! Then we scheduled in our study times and weekly service! It was a great weekly planning session! Then after we planned out our week, we did our personal study since we didn't do it in the morning because we were out and about. Then we did companionship and language study! Then we had dinner and then we headed back out into the beautiful weather! We had 2 Bibles for Bible Referrals that we were going to drop off to them! So we headed out and took a bus all the way up to the very tip top of our area. It took us a good hour just to drive a few miles because of all the traffic and stops we had to make. So we made it to a man named Cornelius's house. We get a lot of what we call Bible referrals. They go online and order a Bible and then we deliver it right to there house. We usually show a video or read a scripture from it and then offer then a Book of Mormon as well! So we knocked on his door but he wasn't home. We then tried to call him again and he answered! He sounded like such a nice and friendly guy! He told us that he would be really busy a so he said to call him back on Saturday and he would meet us somewhere closer to our apartment since he lives so far away. So after that, we got to do something really cool! There was another Bible referral that we got a few days ago, his name is Hilbert, and he lives in the most awkward place you could imagine. We wanted to go drop off his Bible so we set up a time for 7:30 on Thursday. I took a screenshot of where he lives. He lives "inside our zone boundaries" but we have to actually leave our zone to get to him. The dividing line on our area book says he is in our area but.......... So we headed over to his house further down the road and we left our zone. We even had to areas permission from our zone leaders just to get to this guy. A few days earlier, we called him are asked the number was out of service. So that meant we had to go to his house. So we drive down the street out of our zone and then get off the bus! We take one look around us.......and there are all of these beautiful and well taken care of homes! It was so strange because there is a definitive dividing line between our area and the Assistants to the President's area. We crossed under a bridge and into this beautiful neighborhood! It was so amazing! We then walked through the neighborhood and crossed back in our zone. You can kind of see on the map how weird the line is from our area to not our area. These houses were so pretty! Elder Dick said that he felt out of place! It kind of reminded me of our neighborhood. Lots of pretty flowers and trees budding! So we walked down the street and found the address.........and.........the address doesn't exist. It was a housing complex that hasn't even began construction yet. We didn't even have a working number to call. So we just enjoyed the nice walk and then headed for the bus stop! It didn't even feel like our area because it was just that one street. Pretty funny though to think that was technically our area! It was such a great day!

Friday was another great and busy day! We had such a great day! We woke up, got ready for the day, exercised, did our studies, and then did our language and companionship study. Then we headed over to Co-op City to do some lookups of investigators in our area book! We looked up a lot of people! We went to Diende, Gifty, Kojo, Sophia, Brother Tsakpoe, and the Ampah Families' apartment! We knocked on Brother Tsakpoe's door because he was home from Ghana! He told us about a month ago that he and his wife were taking a 1 month trip to Ghana. So we were anxious to go see him after such a long time! So we knocked on his door and they were home! They had just gotten home the night before and so they were VERY tired from all of the traveling. But we stopped by just to say hi and share a quick video message with them. So after we had a quick visit with them, we headed to the Ampah's apartment. They were home luckily and we said hi to their 3 little kids! They all really like us and love having us over so they can show us their toys and games. We just stopped by really quick since we didn't have a set lesson with them. We had a nice quick visit! Then after a few more lookups we left some cards on doors of investigators' doors and then we headed back to the apartment for some dinner! So we had dinner and then we headed to City Island for a lesson we had with our new investigator, Caesar, that we found about a week ago! I can't remember if I told you about him in my last email. So we had a set lesson with him at 7:00 and so we had to leave at the 6:00 since we knew that City Island would have tons of traffic. This is when our night got pretty crazy! The cool thing about City Island is that during the week it is a very quiet town. Their isn't a whole lot going on until the weekend and everybody and their dog drive to City Island to go to the seafood restaurants or to go fishing. So we hopped on the bus and then guess who got on the bus??.......Matt! He was just getting home from work and so we got to chat with him on the way! He is doing really well! So we rode the bus through to the beautiful island and right after we got off the bridge, we saw a really bad car accident. There was only 1 vehicle involved. The whole front of it was obliterated. There were 4 people standing outside of the car on their cell phones so they were all fine but it looked like they rammed straight into the concrete wall. They were probably going to fast around the corner and then smashed into the wall. So we knew that once we needed to get off the island, there was going to be a ton of traffic. There is only 1 way in, and 1 way out of City Island and it goes over a bridge. Then Matt got off on his stop and then we took the bus 1 more stop and then went to Caesar's house. We knocked on the door and a teenage girl and her Dad answered. We and she'd if Caesar was home and they said that he got called into work since it was Friday night. They needed a ton of extra help at the seafood restraunt that he works at. So we asked them what their names were. The girl's name is Roxanne and she is Caesar's sister. She gave us Caesar's phone number and said that we could call him and set up another appointment! So we were disappointed that we couldn't teach Caesar but then we felt like we should go see the Kreig family. So we walked down City Island and we both looked over our shoulders toward the bridge and cars were so backed up already from the wreck. So we walked to the Kreig's house and as we were walking up we noticed their car was pulling out of their driveway. So we hurried down the sidewalk to see if we could catch them! Then they saw us and pulled back into their driveway. Whewww! Then we noticed that it was just Sister Kreig driving and Charlie, her husband, wasn't in the car. We asked her how she was doing and she said that she was on her way to the hospital to visit Charlie because his appendix ruptured on Monday. She told us that he had some pretty bad pain but then it turned into a fever and stomach aches and so he was rushed to the emergency room. She said that he is still recovering from the surgery but now he is doing fine. We asked her if there was anything that we could do for them and she said to pray for them. We really wanted to do something more so after we got done talking with her, she headed over to the hospital and we called Bishop Jessop and Sister Bonilla (The Relief Society President). We called them to let them know and maybe put together get well cards or just call them. So after we talked to Sister Kreig, we decided to start heading back to the apartment since the traffic was so bad. So we walked to the bus stop and it said that it wasn't going to be there for another 4 miles. Plus with all of the traffic it was going to be a long time. We were standing at the last bus stop on the island which is right in front of Matt's house. He saw that we were standing out there so he came out and offered us some water or a couch while we wait. So we headed inside and waited for the bus. We knew it was going to be a while but we didn't know it would take as long as it did. So we talked with Matt for a while and then the bus finally came! But it was already 9:05 when we got on the bus. We hurried back to the apartment as fast as the busses would take us. We finally got back to the apartment at 9:40. It was a great and eventful day!
On Saturday, I was thinking about you all SO much! I was wishing I could be there to celebrate your summer vacation. I was thinking about you all so much on your last day! It is always really hard to miss events like that but just know that I am always thinking about you. I hope you have the best summer ever! So we woke up and were really excited for our service at a soup kitchen that we signed up for! As we were planning for our day, we called a Bible referral that we got a few days ago and asked him of we could come drop off his Bible. He said that he was home and we could drop it off right away! So we headed over to Cornelius's apartment and gave him his Bible! It is such a nice guy! He is from Nigeria and has worked as a taxi driver for 20 years and I he knows New York like the back of his hand! We showed him a video about the Bible and then we gave him a Book of Mormon. He is just moving into a new apartment and so he said that once he gets settled, we could come back and have a lesson! So we left his apartment and went straight to our service activity! Service was so awesome! We got there and they had all of the food laid out and we put on aprons, gloves, and hair nets and then they told us what to do. I was in charge of grabbing the sectioned to-go boxes and putting a scoop of potatoes, vegetables, and beef and then handed it to a lady to bag it and then hand it to them! I wish I could have taken pictures so you could see but we put our bags in a room that they locked so I didn't have my camera. There were a ton of people that came through and got food. They could either take it to go or stay and eat. As I was scooping food I thought to myself: "Wow, I am in a soup kitchen in the Bronx." It was a really cool experience to meet so many people! So after the meal service ended, we headed back to the apartment and did our companionship study and language study. I have been learning a lot of Spanish but I can't speak it very well. We have an app called Dual Lingo and so we match up Spanish word and type what we hear. So it has been great to learn so much Spanish! Then after that we headed to our appointment we had with Matt! Right now, Matt is our focus investigator but he isn't progressing like we were hoping he would. We lost contact with him for the first couple days of the transfer and so we thought that he would recognize that he had something missing when the missionaries are not around. So we have picked him back up recently but he just needs a testimony of his own. He loves having us over! So we went over and when we got there he had dinner for us! We always love dinner appointments! He made us a really good taco soup with flatbread! It was all so yummy and then we had and quick lessons with him! The lesson went really well! We read 1 Nephi chapter 2 with him and he really enjoyed it! Then after our lesson, we headed back to the apartment for the night. It was such a great day!
WOW!!! Sunday was so great! I can't even describe how excited I was!
I can't even describe how excited I am for you to go to Washington D.C!! I was thinking a lot about you and wondering if you were going to take a trip! Sunday was a great day! We had a great day at church! We were expecting Matt to be there but then he cancelled on us last minute and said that he had too much work to do at home. We had a great Sunday School lesson taught by Elder Smiley and Elder Knudsen about Repentance! They did a great job! Then we had a really good lesson on the sacrament taught by a member, Brother Moses. Then for sacrament meeting, the entire bishopric showed up which was great! We had some really good testimonies! Then after church, we had a lesson with Kojo in Co-op City so we took a train and then a bus and had a great lesson with Kojo! We taught him the 3rd lesson, which is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He really enjoyed it and had some very good questions! Then after our lesson with him, we headed back to the apartment for a quick dinner! Then we did something really fun! We talked with Manny at church and asked him if we could come get him at his house and bring him with us to take the sacrament to Sister Johnson! So we headed down Castle Hill Avenue and went to Manny's apartment! Manny is such a great kid! I think I have mentioned this before but he really reminds me of Brandon! He is so funny and polite and is fun to be around. He has a smile just like Dubbie and so whenever I am around him, I always think it is Brandon right by my side! So we took the long journey to Sister Johnson's apartment and she was just about to fall asleep. She was so happy to see us but then as she was talking, she started to feel really dizzy and sick. She asked us if we could call in a nurse for us. The nurse checked her blood pressure. We didn't want to bother her and she wasn't feeling up for the sacrament at the moment, so we said goodbye and then took Manny back home. We were really sad that she wasn't doing very well. We could tell that she felt bad that we couldn't give her the sacrament but we told her that we would bring it to her sometime during the week. We had a great chat with Manny though! He is a funny kid! I got a picture with him a while back right after we watched Conference. So we took him back to his apartment and then we headed back to our apartment for the night. It was such a great day! Getting your email was so much fun and it made my day!
Love Always!
